Dalma Island

Revitalising a living heritage

Dalma is an island that celebrates its living heritage with an opportunity to revitalise, renew and recreate a heritage sanctuary. Inspired by, and building upon the existing dhow marina, the local fishing and boat building culture will be transformed into a waterfront destination alive with daily activities and local traditions.

Key to the development of Dalma Island is the Desert Islands Education Centre, which is a state-of-the art educational facility catering for the local community. The centre is set up with one objective in mind: to empower the local population, through means of education, to take part in the growing tourism industry, on and off the island.

Development highlights

  • Development of a 'Centre of Excellence' educational facility and community centre
  • Upgrading of the current marina village
  • Upgrading of existing museum facilities

Discovery Islands

Discovery Islands, and the seas that surround them, will become a world-class example of environmental conservation and ecological tourism. Sharing the sea with its indigenous marine life requires an understanding of the value of unexplored waters and untouched islands. Protected areas, reserved for existing breeding grounds for birds and turtles, will remain undisturbed to ensure the continuation of a thriving marine population.
