The six Discovery Islands, Gasha, Umm Al Kurkum, Umm Qasar, Jaber, Umm Al Hamas and Alaqua, are located just off Sir Bani Yas Island.
These islands are uninhabited and remain untouched, serving as nesting grounds for migratory birds and turtles. During the past few years, a number of research programmes have been carried out to document breeding habits on the islands.
While this research is being undertaken, no developments will commence on the islands - they will remain undisturbed to ensure the continuation of the marine life.
The bird and marine life may currently be observed by tourists from a safe distance, under the supervision of trained nature guides from Sir Bani Yas Island.
