Sir Bani Yas Island
Sir Bani Yas Island is the heart of the Desert Islands, and will be the base for adventure activities and wildlife experiences for the whole destination.
With a rich history dating back between five and ten million years Sir Bani Yas Island is a cherished natural treasure for the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
A master plan for the island is being developed with a watchful eye to ensure the preservation of ecosystems and marine environments. As such, more than 90% of the island is being dedicated to nature and wildlife. Nowhere is this showcased more than with the development of the Arabian Wildlife Park.
Development Highlights:
Arabian Wildlife Park
Completion: Late 2009, ongoing re-vegetation and breeding programs
Wildlife and nature reserve taking up half of Sir Bani Yas Island. The Park is being developed as a dedicated breeding and rehabilitation area for indigenous wildlife from the Arabian Peninsula, for future release into the wild.
Future Energy Plant
Completion: Late 2012
As part of the Abu Dhabi Government´s MASDAR Initiative, Sir Bani Yas Island will host a pilot project towards the exploration of alternative energies to showcase the future of sustainable development and tourism. This renewable energy farm will produce power to supply the island with its energy needs, by focusing mainly on wind and solar energy.
Al Yamm Lodge
Completion: 2010
Al Yamm lodge is placed by the water edge and offers an intimate, feet-in-the-sand design concept inspired by the barasti of the early fishermen who lived seasonally on the island. From its locations guests will enjoy the surrounding mangrove forests and intertidal lagoon with wading flamingos and dugongs.
Al Barari Lodge
Completion: 2010
The 50 unit lodge will be located in the heart of the Arabian wildlife park. It will be a key destination on Sir Bani Yas Island and will be one of the few places in the Middle East where guests will be able to view wildlife from their lodges in a lush savannah like environment .
Al Bahar Lodge
Completion: 2011
Positioned on the southern development zone of the island, Al Bahar lodges are positioned on a slightly raised promontory along a beautiful stretch of the coastline.It comprises of 50 units with sea view and down across the bay golf estate and private access to the lagoon.
Al Muntaha Lodge
Completion: 2011
The 50 unit mountain lodge is perched high among the rocky slopes of the island’s salt dome hilltops, it will provide a luxurious mountain top experience right in the heart of the Arabian Wildlife Park.
Conference Centre
Completion: 2010
The Conference Centre will accommodate up to 350 in its major conference hall along with 8 breakaway rooms and a boardroom. Ideal for corporate events, team building exercises and even small weddings, Anantara is well known by their signature wedding worldwide.
Dive Centre
Completion: 2010
In addition of the new Conference Centre, a dive centre will be developed and located close to the existing Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa.
Equestrian Centre
Completion: 2010

Outdoor Camp
Completion: 2010
Outward bound camp type, and will be a leading, non-profit adventure-education. the programs emphasise personal growth through experience and challenge in the wilderness. Students develop self-reliance, responsibility, teamwork, confidence, compassion, as well as environmental and community stewardship.
Al Yamm Lodge

Scheduled for completion in 2010, the new 5-star, ´Al Yamm Lodge´ resort will be located by the water´s edge.
